In Asia Pacific, we are welled equipped with state-of-the-art R&D facilities and researchers to reply to customer’s product innovation and technical requests on a sub-regional and local level.
We are also conducting joint developments with global construction chemicals network in Europe and America , and backed by BASF R&D powerhouse in Germany where 8000 scientists are working at 70 R&D sites
R&D Center Japan

The R&D center Japan is located in Chigasaki, 1 hour south of Tokyo. The center is located on about 19,000 m2of land with 4,000 m2 of laboratory space in 4 major buildings. This site is furnished with state-of-art equipment to support the development of various admixture systems and construction systems.
Approximately 40 people are working on various development activities to support concrete, flooring, repair and related testing at this site. This development center supports activities across Asia Pacific, with particular focus on the Japanese market.
Scientists at this site cooperate and conduct joint research and development systematically with other BASF Construction Chemicals institutions in Asia, Europe and America to develop new innovative products and technical know-how to set the technology standards in the region.
The R&D center Japan is responsible for much of the initial development of PCE-based
superplasticizers.

R&D Center Shanghai
The R&D center Shanghai is located in two locations. One location is on the BASF Coatings and Auxiliary Chemicals site in Waigao Qiao, Pudong district. It consists of approximately 1,500 m2 for development of admixture systems products.
The other group in located on a BASF Constructional Chemicals site in the Minhang district and consists of ~500 m2 to support development and technical services support of construction systems products.
Together, about 20 people are working on various developments, with focus on all markets in Asia Pacific, with primary focus on all countries except Japan.
Technical Services Center - ASEAN
In ASEAN, our Construction Systems Technical Services Center and Admixture Systems Technical Services Center are established in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore respectively. The primary focus of these centers is to support localization of formulations from development centers and support sub regional issues.
Technical Services Center - Pacific
In Pacific, our technical services activities are supported by the lab located at Seven Hills. Primary focus is to support product localization and specific customer requirements.
Sub regional Technical Services Center - South Asia
Technical services activities in South Asia are supported by the Mumbai plant location
Primary focus is to support product localization and minor product development.
